"Necrowmancer" is a play on words, mixing the words necromacer (one who raises the dead) and crow (an animal that symbolizes death and intelligence). The piece uses common occult themes (witches, magic, symbolism) that Denis' often uses in his work. The dame herself is not demented or morbid, but is rather cute and playful with her ability to utilize the dark arts. The monster is an embodiment of natures deceased animals.
